Normative requirements (EU/CE)

A practical orientation for applicants: official sources, CE workflow, and key EU acts by product area. We provide links only (no copies). Always verify the latest consolidated version and applicability dates on EUR-Lex.

Disclaimer: This page is for navigation and does not constitute legal advice. Harmonised standards are often paid documents; use official catalogues to check versions.

CE workflow (high level)

  • Identify all applicable EU legislation for your product (often more than one).
  • Determine the conformity assessment route (self-declaration vs Notified Body).
  • Compile technical documentation, risk assessment, test evidence, instructions & labelling.
  • Issue the EU Declaration of Conformity and affix CE marking (where applicable).

Harmonised standards: where to check lists & versions

Harmonised standards provide "presumption of conformity" when correctly applied. Always check the Official Journal references (OJEU) and the latest citations for your legislation.
