When is EMC testing required for CE marking?

Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) testing is required for virtually all electrical and electronic products placed on the EU market. The EMC Directive 2014/30/EU applies broadly — it covers equipment that can cause electromagnetic disturbance or be affected by it. Most products with electronic circuits or mains connections need EMC testing as part of their CE marking conformity assessment.

Additional EMC requirements apply under the Radio Equipment Directive (RED), Low Voltage Directive (LVD), and sector-specific regulations such as medical devices (MDR/IVDR) and machinery. The applicable standards and test scope depend on your product category and the directives it falls under.

How ECP matching works

Describe your product, the applicable directive (EMC, RED, LVD, MDR, other), the specific EN standards you need tested, sample readiness and your target timeline. ECP routes your request to accredited EMC laboratories that cover your test scope.

You receive lab responses with scope confirmation, test cost estimates, typical lead times and next steps — without hunting for contacts or waiting for generic inquiry responses.
